At the beginning of anything new, it is difficult to know where to start. I have had many questions regarding how I actually create art in my journaling Bible. I have been there, and I wanted to give you a step by step of my process.
It is so easy! Don’t be afraid, just jump in and do it. You will be glad you did!
I always start by penciling in the words or pictures I want included.
Next, I use my fine tipped Faber-Castell pen to lightly ink everything in.
At this point, I always erase the pencil. I have discovered if I use color over the pencil marks, I can’t erase them later.
Now, for the fun part, I add color! For this page, I started with my Neocolor water soluble crayons.
Once I had the colors the way I like them, I used my water brush to make the crayon turn to water color. Make sure you have paper towel close by to absorb the water if your page gets too wet.
For the purple and blue, I used my Koi watercolor paints.
My last step is to add thickness and character to the words. Sometimes, I add black lines to the art. I use my Faber-Castell pen set for this step.
Thats it! So simple! I know you can do it!

Do the pages buckle if they get too wet? I love your post!
Lynnette Cretu
Thank you! They do wrinkle a little bit. I always keep a paper towel close by to absorb some of the water.

So awesome! Love the simplicity of your process!
I noticed you didn’t prep the page with gesso like other people do…
Did this page bleed trough the back?
Do you consider gesso to be necessary?
Lynnette Cretu
Thank you Olga and welcome! I don’t use gesso. I don’t have a problem with the media bleeding through. Although, I am very careful about the products I use. If you are interested in learning more about my process, I do weekly live journaling and classes on Periscope. Just download the app and search for me @lynnettecretu I would love for you to join us!

I love the pictures i see but here is my delima. I’m old school to start with and not an artist, so when I read I just read the words. No pictures ever come to mind. And then If they do I’m not artsy enuf to draw them. I enjoy scrapbooking and making cards. But this is entirely different.
